Post-Vlog Blog.
This was a typical video project like I have done a thousand times before interms of the shooting and Editing experience. With the exception that I was the director writer and cast it was pretty mundane. The difference with the Vlog is in the final conversion from the program file to the compressed version. What I had thought was that there was no degeneration from copying and recopying the media when working with digital. What I had learned was that there are many different compression types etc. that tremendously effect the final result. My picture quality with the effects I had prescribed took a huge spill almost into the unrecognisable but not quite that bad. If I ever do this again Final Cut will be my program of choice. I enjoyed the process emensely. It opened my eyes to the creation of home-grown video's possibilities.

Barrack Obama Blog/Blog
I chose the Presidential candidate Barrack Obama. He is really playing his audience quite well. I really had very little factual information about this particular candidate previous to this blog entry. Except for the fact that he was a senator from Illinois and was an African American. I really hate politicians personally. I am a registered Republican, so I thought maybe I should check out what the competition is up to. And to no surprise the left-wing liberals are up to their same tricks with this Obama guy. His blog is arranged quite nicely though, he utilizes a rich photographic format and text with relevant stories filled with ideas about helping the unfortunate victims of Katrina, and with pictures of cute little kids. He is really flexing the race card to it’s full potential. In the first blog entry on his page he goes as far as to speak of Katrina’s victims, and display an accompanying photo of a very collegic looking white man. But technically it is well thought out. With video’s etc., he completes the full array of the internet’s options. He is reaching out to just about every demographic possible. Black, white, elderly, young, they are all present and accounted for by his team of publicists I'm sure.Good blog, but I see through his Political correctness like a sheet of celephane, do we really want to elect this guy?

Viacom/DMCA?/Youtube
The Youtube phenomenon has sparked the interest of billions worldwide. I completely understand the amazing qualities of that particular video page and I know the down side of it. Viacom is a media giant but so is google the new owners of YouTube. I just hope for the sake of Viacom that they wise up. Anything online now a days is articulated by Google, the recent owners of YouTube. The copyright infringements can only go so far for the available media on YouTube. The typical amount of the media available for viewing is between 1 and 2 minutes and can vary up to 9 minutes usually. Technically there are grounds for infringement but we are not talking about entire episodes or collections of shows or films on their site. I honestly think they are doing more for promotion for the industry than cutting into the profits of these media giants. I honestly think that Murdoch and his fellow “Mr. Burns” of media have been running the industry for so long it scares the panties off of them to have even a little competition to disrupt their multibillion dollar harmony and will stop at nothing to get their cake back. It is really sad. The DMCA is a good tool to combat the use of illegal media, but who really cares. Give me a break, make your money Viacom and give the experience and the rights back to the people. This syndication billions crap has got to go. The internet is just another transformer in the robot war to dissolve the father media. Just like with Hollywood and TV back in the day. This time it’s TV’s turn, burn baby, burn!

Podcast: A Reaction to the Process.
The process of scripting, recording and editing my podcast was a typical experience as far as working with the digital medium. Figuring out the recorder was the most challenging aspect of the process. But the challenge of even that was not much than what I was mentally prepared to deal with. All worked out well and after last minute revisions to my script due to a change in my actual guest I got down to the business of interviewing Lowell. We had fun doing it, it ran real smooth as far as getting my subject to feel comfy and let the ideas flow. I experimented with some mic placements and have achieved a sort of stereo proximity effect with the aural location of my voice sources. they seem to originate in differed stereo hemispheres as I moved the facing of the mic in different directions So I thought that was pretty cool. So then it was back to the studio for some post-production sessions with my raw footage. I got to business with a quickness. I was truly amazed at how many as, umms, and throat clearings there were. So I set out to get rid of the extra sound effect. It took me a long while to properly split and crop my wav files so they were cut precisely and without infringement or excess vocal media attached to my play cuts. It was monotonous to say the least, there were just so many speech errs. You would never notice how many in a everyday conversation. So I cleaned up the rough ends and took a break for the night. The following night (I think as soon as the sun drops my sound hat comes on, cause I rarely do audio in the day), I got back into the swing of the cast. I listened to my rough edit again and was pleased with the results of my labor the night before. Had a few minor details to deal with and off I went to work on the musical section of my piece the circuit bend outtro. For this I could get creative and the synthesis of the circuit-bend was the sweetest part of the pie. I tossed up a little amen break with a little bend sonics and samples from pertinent sections of my interview. I scooped and looped. I even threw in some samples and effects over the top to give message to my meaning. It was fun and I would definitely do this again. Definitely.........
